Case Study: Vitasoy Lemon Tea AR Effect on Snapchat


The team at Oraar Studio wanted to showcase the effectiveness of AR activated product packaging and we decided to go for Vitasoy's Lemon Tea carton. The carton's theme perfectly fit our summer vibes and the tea in itself is a healthy option.


AR Activated Product Packaging


The entire augmented reality experience was carried out with our Creative Director Josephine Miller taking the lead on the product packaging activation.


Storyboard for AR Packaging


We decided to create a simple illustration where the team could understand the activation for the packaging once scanned by the camera.


AR Platform of Choice

Snapchat was the platform of choice; a Social AR effect that provides accurate image tracking could easily take care of this project. Do note that AR product activations can be done via image tracking on other platforms like Instagram, TikTok and even the web!


Texturing and Animating the 3D Models

Once we were done with the 3D modelling for the AR activation, we decided to add textures and shaders to the 3D models. The lemon tea store owner was animated so she could serve us all effortlessly!


Impact of Augmented Reality Led Product Activations


Once our AR effect was created, published and tested, it was time to let our supporters and close friends see the results!


Visibility on Social Media

Our content featuring Vitasoy's Lemon Tea effect has reached [number] of people on Instagram and LinkedIn with posts from our main page and reshares from our founders.


This showcases the importance of sharing content widely during AR campaigns for your brand.


AR Campaign Impressions

The AR campaign in itself reached [number] folks globally as indicated by our dashboard. This is impressive since it's a single platform we launched on and Vitasoy's Lemon Tea may not be available in every country.


What adds to the success is that we did not spend any amount on paid ads to rake in impressions or likes.


What's the future of AR activated product packaging?

With every improvement for image tracking within AR software, we have seen an increase of AR activated product packaging in cans, boxes, cartons and even newspapers.


These AR activated marketing campaigns can be great Easter Eggs for your loyal customers or also bring in new customers through a well thought out campaign.
